Were you making online payment of your BESCOM Electricity Bills using BangaloreOne portal and finding it very convenient, then you may no longer be able to use this services for several months.
BESCOM has done major changes in it's electricity bill due to which its no longer possible to make online payment of electricity bill using BangaloreOne portal. The new bills sent to consumer's doesn't have any details of Location Code instead it has a new field called as Account ID. Though RR Number still exists in the new bill as well but it seems in future the RR numbers is going to change to a new format as well. This is because in current bill against RR number there are two values mentioned, the old RR number is mentioned in brackets whereas another number is mention just before the older RR number.
The new RR number is a ten digit number(Example 0123456789) whereas the older RR number was a ten character alphanumeric value(Example MS3EH12345).
Due to this new billing mechanism adapted by BESCOM, BangaloreOne is required to do major changes in their portal so as to bring back the online BESOM bill payment again. As per the confirmation from one of the BangaloreOne office, it would take 2-3 months to bring back this online BESCOM bill payment service up & running again on their portal.
If a consumer tries to use the details mentioned in old bill to make a new bill payment using BanagloreOne portal, on clicking on retrieve button only the last old bill (December 2011) could be seen.
Its strongly advisable to consumers NOT to user BanagloreOne online portal to make payments for new bills using the details mentioned in the older bill until the portal is upgraded.
This uncalled changes done by BESCOM is surely going to imact thousands of consumers living across different areas of Bangalore who have been using BanagloreOne service for their monthly Electricity Bill Payment.
Its surprising that BESCOM did such major changes without bothering about the people of Banaglore who rely on online mode of payment due to chaotic Bangalore traffic and unavailability of payments centers near their homes.. With proper planning & co-ordination BanagloreOne portal could have been easily upgraded along with the new billing methodology adapted by BESCOM.
Annoyingly there aren't any details mentioned on either BESCOM site or BangaloreOne Portal about these changes impacting the consumers.
